With 13:00 to play in the second half, the Badgers led Ohio State 41-37 and looked to be on their way to a win. 7 minutes and 13 seconds later, the Buckeyes held a 52-41 advantage. That's right, for 7:13, Wisconsin did not score ONE point. Sound familiar?

Yes, the infamous Wisconsin scoring drought strikes again. The Badgers (14-7, 5-3) ultimately fell to the #11 Buckeyes of Ohio State (16-4, 6-2) in a dissapointing 58-49 loss Tuesday night.

In the end this could be a game we all circle that doomed any shot Wisconsin had at winning the Big Ten title. Simply put, they let this one slip right through their three-point shooting fingers.

On to the player grades and reactions:

Player Stats/Thoughts Grade
Ben Brust, G
Ben_Brust_.jpeg

9pts, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 3-6 3pt FG's, 33 min.

Brust hit some nice threes, but his impact has really been limited so far in Big Ten play. Not what the Badgers were expecting from him.

Traevon Jackson, G
Jackson_Headshot.jpeg

12 pts, 1 assist, 3 turnovers, 5-9 FG's, 32 min.

Jackson came out fireing early and with good reason, he was feeling it. He hit a ridiculous pull up three late in the shot clock that was Jordan Taylor-esque. His offensive growth has been quite impressive.

Mike Bruesewitz, F
Bruesewitz_headshot.jpeg

8 pts, 5 rebounds, 2 assist, 1 turnover, 3-5 FG's, 30 min.

Brueser did was Brueser does, but like Brust, didn't have a huge impact in this game. The Badgers could really use some senior leadership from this guy.

Ryan Evans, F
Evans_Headshot.jpeg

2 pts, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 turnovers, 1-1o FG's, 29 min.

I don't even want to talk about it.

Jared Berggren, F
Berggren_headshot.jpeg

11 pts,  9 rebounds, 2 assist, 2 blocks, 3 turnovers, 4-9 FG's, 36 min.

Berggren had a nice game but missed some bunnies throughout the game that really had a impact on this game's outcome. We're still waiting for Berggren to have a dominant game like he did last year at OSU.

Sam Dekker, F
Dekker_Headshot.jpeg

5 pts, 2 rebounds, 1 steal, 2-5 FG's, 20 min.

Dekker needs to be more productive in his play time, especially with the awful play of Ryan Evans recently. A bonehead three at the end of the game leads me to give Dekker a lower grade.

George Marshall, G
George_Marshall_headshot.jpeg

2 pts, 1 rebound, 2 assists, 1-6 FG's, 16 min.

Like Dekker, Marshall needs to assert himself more on offense. We've seen what Marshall can do, he just needs to make an effort to attack the basket more.

Three Takeaways

- The Badgers went to the free throw line ZERO times this game. ZERO! That just shows how much of an emphasis they've put on the three point shot, which is not a good thing. 28 of UW's 52 shots in this game were threes. The Badgers aren't going to win games if they can't get to the basket.

- Wisconsin got shredded by Deshaun Thomas tonight, who scored 25 points on 10-17 shootings. Thomas was bullying Ryan Evans all night, and really had his way with the Badgers' defense. The Badgers' defense is what has been keeping them afloat this season, and this has to be a discouraging performance if you're a Badger fan.

- At 5-3 in conference play, the Badgers will have to be phenomenal down the stretch to even think about sniffing the Big Ten title. Games like these are really hard to let slip away if you want to be a contender.
