Final Badger Bracketology

Note: Since I’ll be on the road en route to Indianapolis, this final Badger Bracketology is coming out a day earlier than usual.

With a slew of conference champions getting knocked off, the 15 seeds are starting to become weaker. That can be good, obviously, but also a little scary as these are teams that got hot in their conference tournaments.

Let’s see what the experts have to say this week.

CBS Sports (March 11 after all games were complete)

  • Wisconsin – South #2 seed against Utah Valley (in Milwaukee).
  • Michigan – West #2 seed against Eastern Kentucky.
  • Michigan State – East #4 seed against Stephen F. Austin.
  • Ohio State – South #5 seed against winner of Providence and Tennessee.
  • Iowa – East #9 seed against Oregon.
  • Nebraska – Midwest #10 seed against New Mexico.
  • Minnesota – Second team out.

ESPN – (March 10)

  • Wisconsin – West #2 seed against Robert Morris (in Milwaukee).
  • Michigan – South #2 seed against Western Michigan.
  • Michigan State – Midwest #5 seed against winner of Arkansas and Dayton.
  • Ohio State – Midwest #6 seed against Xavier.
  • Iowa – West #8 seed against Gonzaga.
  • Nebraska – East #11 seed against UCLA.
  • Minnesota – Second team out.

Sports Illustrated (March 11)

  • Wisconsin – Midwest #2 seed against Boston U.
  • Michigan – South #2 seed against Stony Brook.
  • Michigan State – South #5 seed against Harvard.
  • Ohio State – West #5 seed against winner of Georgetown and Nebraska.
  • Iowa – West #8 seed against Oklahoma State.
  • Nebraska – West #12 play-in game against Georgetown.

Sporting News (March 10)

  • Wisconsin - #2 seed. Could play Stony Brook, Boston, Robert Morris or Wofford.
  • Michigan - #2 seed.
  • Michigan State - #4 seed.
  • Ohio State - #6 seed.
  • Iowa - #7 seed.
  • Nebraska – #11 seed.
  • Minnesota – Bubble team.
  • Indiana – Bubble team.

Shelby’s Bracket WAG – (March 12)

  • Wisconsin – West #2 seed against UC-Irvine (in Milwaukee).
  • Michigan – Midwest #2 seed against UW-Milwaukee (also in Milwaukee, interesting).
  • Michigan State – East #4 seed against Delaware.
  • Ohio State – East #6 seed against winner of Dayton and Tennessee.
  • Iowa – South #10 seed against UConn.
  • Nebraska – South #11 seed against VCU.
  • Minnesota – Third team out.

How about that last prediction of having Wisconsin and UW-Milwaukee both playing in Milwaukee? They’d be different sessions, but that alone would be a huge boost for the Panthers. My final prediction for the Badgers is a two seed, unless one of the following happens. If they lose to Minnesota/Penn State, they’ll drop to a three seed and if they win the tournament, they’ll be a one seed.
