High School Accolades: Wisconsin Gatorade Player of the Year in 2014, 1st team WCFA All-State, Green Bay Press-Gazette Player of the Year
Senior Stats: 61.3 comp. pct., 1,384 yards passing, 16 TDs, 3 INTs; 2,322 yards rushing, 10.2 ypc, 29 TDs
Our View: The fact that the previous coaching staff couldn’t even be bothered to offer a scholarship to the Player of the Year is mind boggling. It is even more so when you got to see him play in person, as I did on multiple occasions (thanks to him playing at my alma mater).
Alec Ingold was such an explosive player at quarterback that things really changed when he went down to injury late in the post season. Wisconsin is going to get an athlete who will have a lot of speed and awareness to him. They’ll also get a tough player, as he battle through a series of injuries late in the season to gut his team to a berth in the Division 1 semi-finals.
However, he hasn’t played a lot of linebacker in high school thanks to injury and took more mental reps at the position than actual ones.
Wisconsin got itself the classic sleeper from in-state and don’t be surprised to see Ingold make a run late in his career for a starting role. It’ll just take time to learn the position for him.
