Our View: Getting not one, but two strong players out of California powerhouse Mater Dei high school was massive for the Badgers. Credit Kyle Penniston with helping to land high 3-star defensive tackle (nose guard for the Badgers) Olive Sagapolu.

He’s got plenty of knowledge of how to play with leverage already and given the relative inexperience at the nose guard position that knowledge can help him compete earlier than most incoming freshman are capable of at the position.

It is really hard not to like just about everything you see out of him on the high school film, because he has good hand fighting technique, good footwork and most importantly he’s got speed that many his size don’t have.

The biggest question at the next level is if he can be stout enough to eat up blockers in the 3-4 scheme. Luckily, film shows that Mater Dei plays a lot of 3-4 defense as well and that will help him further as he comes in to the Badgers system.

I don’t expect him to see the field much this upcoming season unless he blows the coaches away early in fall camp. The good news is Badger fans may not have to wait long to see him on the field either, and he’s one of my personal favorites in this class along with Austin Kafentzis, Nick Thomas and Penniston.
