High School Accolades: Back-to-Back Florida Class 7A Championships
Career Stats: 70 tackles, 30 pass breakups and 5 interceptions
Our View: As the Badgers’ biggest targets went off the board and elsewhere in the world of college football, Wisconsin went back and offered a cornerback from one of the most successful high school programs in the country — St. Thomas Aquinas out of Florida. It’s the school that brought UW James White and Dez Southward.
Pedigree is important, but so is skill set and Carriere-Williams does impress on film. In fact, he appears to have the potential to be an impact player from the second he walks on campus in Madison. Considering the need at cornerback, Carriere-Williams will get those chances, just don’t expect him to shrink under the microscope given the play he put on film and the competition he played against and with at the high school level.
That said, he is going to need to get stronger if he wants to compete as a potential starter from the word go. With the Big Ten populated by big time wide receivers with plenty of weight and strength.
If there is one cornerback in this class that could feature prominently from the start, look for Carriere-Williams to be that player.
