Our View: Once again we see another recruit that the Badgers scoured far and wide to find. His stats don’t pop and he certainly isn’t in a recruiting hotbed. Yet, the film shows a versatile player with good hands and plenty of upside.

It helped the Badgers and perhaps hurt Hescock’s profile that he didn’t play in an offense that really featured the tight end or the passing game in any major way. With Wisconsin getting plenty of pass-catching tight ends in the past two or three classes, it was important to get a do-all prospect and that is exactly what Hescock is.

Maybe he turns in to a star, maybe he’s a role player, but Hescock is going to have an opportunity to contribute with his ability to be a solid blocker and route runner.
