The duo were named to both organizations’ midseason All-American lists on Tuesday, and rightfully so. Gordon is third in rushing nationally, with 870 yards (averaging a ridiculous 9.7 yards per carry), while Borland has a team best 56 tackles (his average of 9.3 tackles per game is third in the Big Ten).
Most importantly though, Borland has come up big for his team in the two biggest Big Ten games so far this season, recording a career-high 16 tackles at Ohio State and 10 tackles this past weekend versus Northwestern—all on a bum ankle too.
Let’s also not forget that Gordon has three runs of longer than 70 yards and seven longer than 30 yards on the season, and it’s only halfway over (cue Bon Jovi, anyone).
Of course, these awards are nice because they mean people are paying attention to the Badgers and the individual performances of these two players, but it won't mean much if the two players and the team as a whole don't finish the job in the second half of the season.
There is still a long way to go and knowing Gordon and Borland, I'm guessing they'd be saying the exact same thing.
