Multiple Badgers on Nagurski, Outland Trophy Watch Lists

After a day without a Badger on a watch list the Nagurski Award and Outland Trophy provided Wisconsin with three players named to the lists. Both center Travis Frederick and left takle Ricky Wagner were named to the Outland Trophy watch list. On the Nagurski Award watch list are middle linebacker Chris Borland and outside linebacker Mike Taylor.

The Outland Trophy goes to the best interior lineman in the country, offensive of defensive. The 2011 winner was Barrett Jones and he is retruning this season and a huge favorite to win the award once again. 

As for the Nagurski Award, well it goes to the best defensive player and no position is off limits. Luke Kuechly formerly of Boston College was named the 2011 recipient and now plays in the NFL.

Today marked the first time that multiple Badgers were on both award watch lists announced and it was the first time that LB Mike Taylor was on a watch list for 2012. 

Of course the Big Ten trailed the SEC in names on the lists, 19 to 14 in the Nagurski Award and 19 to 12 in the Outland Trohpy.
