The B1G Time: Buckeyes Having Issues at RB and More

Welcome back to The B1G Time, where we look around the Big Ten and give the lowdown on what's goin on with our frienemies around the conference.
Before we get to the team-by-team looks, don't forget yours truly represented this site over at Saturday Edge as we played Q&A with other sites as well. The latest Q&A was on the Most Improved & Most Overrated teams in the conference, my answers both came within the Leaders Division, but you'll have to read it to find out just which team was what.
The biggest story since we last left comes out of Columbus where they have a huge issue at running back after star senior RB Jordan Hall tore a tendon in his foot and is already out for the start of the season, if not more. According to the article Meyer is in a somewhat stage of panic... I thought the Buckeyes dind't replace, just reload? Huh, who knew..
Our annual end of the football season opponents, Penn State, have also been in the headlines once again because of the Jerry Sandusky mess that is only getting worse and could include a cover-up all the way down to Joe Paterno and I emphasize COULD.
This is such a difficult situation because there's two very different ways of looking at this issue, one is the moral side of things - where I think we can all agree Paterno failed the moral obligation to stop kids from being abused. If you have any shred of evidence this is going on you have an obligation to stop it no matter what. Now, sure he met his legal obligation by going to his bosses. So the question is a very personal one - are you looking at this legally or morally and which one matters to you in the end?
more after the jump...
Purdue site Hammer and Rails has been doing their due dilligence and getting to know the enemies of 2012 and Wisconsin was up just the other day, so check it out if you enjoy wishful thinking and such.
There's been a lot of change in the Buckeye blogosphere and we welcome Eric Cooper to the fold over at fellow Bloguin site Buckeye House Call. His very first rant there was a damn good one about recruiting, so give it a shout out. One of our friends from another site has joined the team at the funny, irreverant, and overall great reading site of Buckeye Empire so make sure to give them a look see if you are in to scooping out the enemy and all.
Over at tBBC they've pointed out the good and bad of past Ohio State football coaches and it's worth reading for you history buffs out there.
Northwestern is continuing it's attempt to reach it's first ever NCAA tournament and adding the schools best recruit ever is a good way to go according to the folks over at Lake the Posts. Oh and if you didn't know Under Armour will be the official uniform suppliers for the Wildcats starting with this season and they have a preview at the site as well.
Fellow Leaders division resident Indiana and their SB Nation site The Crimson Quarry aren't too focused on football as you might expect after what's transpired lately... But they have given a great history lesson in the series they're calling "Great Expectations" and most recently looked at the 1976-77 basketball Hoosiers.
Nebraska site Corn Nation is giving their readers a crash course in the 2012 recruiting class and since we play them in Lincoln and all you just may have a passing interest in Part 1 and Part 2 so we can know the Huskers just that much better.
Just because we happen to not like East Dakota University much here, doesn't mean they don't have some good coverage and frankly no one does it better for the Gophers than the folks at Gopher Hole and they have a great article about one of the newest basketball Gophers out there, Charles Buggs. Oh, and the site is all sorts of new and re-designed so give it a look even just for that alone. Just don't get sucked in, lol.
One of the biggest complaints about Illini football is a seemingly endless apathy of the fanbase that has killed any atmosphere at Memorial Stadium, it's a topic taken up at Illinois Loyalty and it's an important one as new Head Coach Tim Beckman has a great opportunity to get the fanbase off their hands quickly.
The Hawkeyes and Jarrod Uthoff appear to be off to a very awkward start to their relationship, since Uthoff isn't enrolled he can't speak to coaches and players aren't exactly opening up to him right now either.... I'm sure it'll get all ironed out this fall, but who isn't surprised that this is an awkward situation? The kid strikes me as awkward all the way around.
Ever hear of 7-on-7 football? Well it's all the rage in recruiting circles and over at Maize 'N Blue Nation they were at one of the biggest events, the IMG 7on7. So check out the thoughts.
Well, MSU apparently has gone on silent as of late... So with that I hope you've enjoyed our look around the conference and as always... ON WISCONSIN!!
